Good Morning

One reason I set up this blog was to creatively deal with insomnia. So, here I am, trying to plod my way through a whole new way of communicating. This site will surely evolve over time and I’m open to suggestions about how to make it easier for you to use.

I want to say thank you again for all of your love and encouragement. I’m having a hard time letting people know what we need. Hard to think terribly clearly. So far, as far as I know, a three meals/week schedule has been organized between The Redmont School, The Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham, and The B’ham Shambhala Meditation Center (see links for info about these organizations). If you’d like to put your name on the list, I’ll put up contact info in the next day or two.

I cannot express/overemphasize how helpful the meals are while I’m simultaneously grieving, figuring out how to be a single parent, and dealing with the two businesses that Mike and I own as well as dealing with estate issues (in other words involuntarily restructuring my entire life).

Very overwhelming. Food is nourishment for the soul. Thanks. BTW, we are vegetarian, but do eat eggs and dairy.

Some people have been asking how else they can help. Below, is a short list that adresses specific questions that people have had as well as some ideas I have on my own:

  • Lawn/yard/garden help beginning Oct 2. (I have houseguests/until then). Call or post if you have an hour or two to spare. I have many tools and lots of little projects to wrap up before winter, including cutting down a dead 12″ diameter pine tree on the back of my lot, setting up rainbarrels and setting up a clothesline.
  • Babysitting during a meditation class I’m signed up for Wed pm’s Oct 24, Nov 7, Nov 14.
  • Pencil in October 11 for an evening party/fundraiser @ Rojo. Birmingham’s production community is hosting. (tentative/more info to come)
  • Plan to attend Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead 2007 @ Bare Hands Gallery Nov 2. A Prichard family annual event. Mike would want you to attend. See links.
  • Besides donating to The Redmont School in Mike’s memory, some have asked whether they can contribute to Marley and Avery’s tuition in memory of Mike. If interested, you may simply send a check written to the school with a note saying that it is to be applied to Prichard’s tuition bill. The school’s address is 1220 50th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35222 (205)592-0541.
  • Check out/Support/donate to any of the organizations listed in the links section; all are near and dear to our family.

This is all for now; thanks again.

Chris
